Drive, Show, and Enjoy

In 2008, Betsy again chauffered another couple on their 50th wedding anniversary. Though this time wasn't the dry, sunny drive of 2006. The rain poured down, just minutes before Betsy arrived to pick up the couple. Fortunately, the family had cleared the garage and we were able to pull into the garage and dry Betsy off before the couple came out. Still the couple reminisced about their wedding and youth, enjoying a drive through the countryside to a county club for a family dinner.

June 2008 Sully Plantation - again second place. And to the same red and white '57 Chevy. The really annoying part is that this particular '57 is a trailer queen with every option available for '57s - including two 4 barrel carbs, contenintal kit, and accessory bumper.

July 2008, Betsy was back in the Show and Shine car show at Old Dominion Speedway. Our newest project, a '63 MGB was also there, along with a friend's '78 Olds Cutlass Salon. Kurt's '56 Wagon is over at the dragstrip.

All things considered, Betsy did well, taking second place again, this time up against custom as well as stock.

April 25, 2009, back to Burger King. We visit there many Saturday nights, we just don't take pictures of each time.

Betsy carried dignitaries in the Fauquier County Bicentennial parade, 1 May 2009.

Betsy went to see a movie in classic style - a drive in theater.

Thanks to a modern radio and modern technology, we didn't have to use the old window speakers.

Betsy attended GM Carlisle in June 2009, taking second to that black '55 this time. The black '55 was very nicely done and was driven.

Michelle and Christopher pose with Betsy and Sandy for a picture by a Chevy Talk member.

A detailed engine bay, complete with correct tags, stickers, and a tar top battery.

The poodle in the poodle skirt is named Sandy. She is Betsy's best friend and constant companion.

Betsy spared time to visit the East Coast Chevy booth at Carlisle and meet the guys who had provided so many of her parts.

The competition at Sully Plantation 2010 was fierce. The '55 was very nice and took First Place. Betsy took Second - again. The '57 took Third. The judges did indicate that they were having a very hard time because all four cars in the class were very nice. The fourth was a white '57 convertible that I didn't get pictures of. The judges even looked at the underneath side of the cars. I honestly expected the red '57 to take either first or second.

Betsy with a friend's 1978 Olds at the Summer Thunder Cruise-In in Purcellville, VA 31 July 2010. No trophies at this one, just lots of very nice and some very rare cars.
