Reassembly

From previous Christmas and birthday presents, we had the trunk Vee and emblem on hand. They were the first emblems to be reinstalled.

The hood emblems came next, also from previous Christmas and birthday presents.

Christmas 2004 found a new grill under the tree, along with parking light backing plates.

Gene Smith taillight assemblies had been purchased at fall Carlisle in 2004. They fit beautifully!

The knobs are all original, but the bezels and name plates are new. Betsy also has her original speedometer, with untouched odometer reading, back.

A completely new wiring harness was purchsed. The old one was literally falling apart and we didn't want to worry about a short in the electrical system starting a fire at this point! The channel runs down the driver side floorboard, under the door sill plates.

Spring Carlisle 2005 netted us many of the finishing pieces, thanks to East Coast Chevy.

Along with the small finishing pieces, the rear bumper came home and part of the front bumper, rechromed by Bumper Chrome Co. of CA.

New door handles and shields were purchased as well, from Draco's Chevy.

It's really nice to be able to open and close her doors normally now.

Headlight rings and parking light housings were installed to finish the front chrome.

The trunk seal and mat were put in to finish the trunk.

Kurt had already restored Betsy's original bumper jack. All the trunk is missing is the Jack Instructions.

And the correct resistor finishes out the engine compartment.

A-arm dust shields should help to protect the engine compartment from road dust.

RAMMat soundproofing and insulation was installed inside the doors and the roof. As we found out before, a dark green roof is hot in the summer. This should also cut down on the road noise.

Kurt had to learn how to buff the stainless to get a good shine on it. It's not as easy as he is making it look.

Before we could install the bumpers, we had to install the rear body to bumper seal. Originally, these fit into a channel and the channel was crimped closed. We choose to simply use body sealer to hold the seal in place. Thanks to the Chevy Talk Forum for this tip!

One shiny CHROME front bumper from the Bumper Chrome Co. of CA.

Kurt bought me a t-shirt that says I'm a "Chrome Junkie". Oh YEAH!

Betsy is starting to look like I remember her with her new front bumper installed.

And she finally has legal plates and insurance. Grudy Insurance is a pleasure to deal with.
