Two young kids, posing with their car and bike. The original photo was not blurry, but it was taken in May of 1991 with a 110 camera, not even 35mm. Scanning and increasing the size from the original 3.5" x 5" causes blurring. The original owner had injured herself while learning to ride and was afraid to get back on. We paid $1200 for a 4 yr old bike with only 2,584 miles on it. At the time, it had almost every option available for a 1986 Rebel 450. Since Honda only made this model for two years, accessories were few - backrest, windscreen, and luggage rack. But it was enough for me. Yes, that is Betsy Kurt is leaning on. And yes, I used to be skinny and Kurt used to have hair.

A less blurry shot, still a scanned 110 film. Kurt's CX500 is in the background.

A better shot of the tiny engine.

Fast forward to Feb of 2011 and my first digital camera. By now, the tank had been replaced once due to rust in the left (downside) bottom edge. Somewhere along the road we had found a luggage rack that fit. Honda had made one for this bike, but they were hard to get. I believe this one is from a Rebel 250.

Despite being a commute bike, the Rebel was stored inside. Some rust had developed over the years. The 1995 Shadow is behind the Rebel.

The final original picture of the Rebel. These were taken as we finished out the second, detached garage. Life interrupted and the higher Ethanol played havoc with the carbs and gaskets. Kurt and I commuted together for a few years and the bikes sat because we preferred to be together. Sitting for several years with bad Ethanol laced gasoline did in both the Rebel and the Shadow. When the opportunity came to ride again in 2016, both needed new tanks, petcocks, and carb rebuilds. It wasn't in the budget, so they sat even longer until 2018 when both our kids decided they needed motorcycles to ride. No, they are not getting our bikes.
