The Fair Lady sits next to the Toyota.

One sleek, well kept Lady. I've always loved small, sporty, two-seat cars.

Finally at home, with a bath to remove the accumulated dust and debris. A friend bought the Toyota truck as a project to work on with his brother and his nephew for off-roading. It went to a good home. Rally Girl is smaller than the Z though. Flag is in the background.

A vinyl nose cover, or "bra", was used to protect the nose. However, after rains, the water would collect in the front corners and caused the rust on the hood. The best thing here is a replacement hood. This rusty area is where the tortion bar is for the hood, as it opens forwards.

A closer shot of the rust on the passenger front corner . . .

and the driver front corner. It can survive for awhile as we work to finish the current project, the Ranchero.

Overall, the body is in great shape, though upon closer inspection, she had been painted at least once before. The painters were not exacting on taping off that rubber strip and there was some silver on the black edge.

Ok, so the electric antannae will not retract. We will need to fix that so that a cover will fit. The Bronco sits in the next bay.

Kurt had a master plan. I said fix her up and sell her. He said hop in and drive it. Silly me, I did. And I fell in love with her ride and handling. So we are keeping her for now.

There were a few other small rust spots, like this one near the wheel arch.

And both lower panels have rust.

Time for that tune-up I mentioned. We also replaced all the vacuum lines, radiator hoses, belt, basically anything rubber under the hood.

And a new clutch - which meant pulling the transmission. We had to drop the drive shaft and a heat shield.

The new clutch was because of the scoring on this flywheel. There was very little friction material left on the clutch disk.

While we had the trans out for the clutch, we cleaned it up.

New flywheel. There are two clutches, the one for the ZX and the upgraded one for the 2+2 car. Since you cannot get a flywheel for the regular vehicle, we converted her to the 2+2 flywheel and clutch.

We had to pull the center console and shifter, so of course we cleaned those up as well.

The interior was in great shape, with only one minor plastic panel damaged.

A small pile of parts in the back that we had to sort through.

The engine, complete with factory original plug wires and 87K documented actual miles.

As bad as this muffler looked, it is solid, so we put it back in.

We searched and found a good hood in Maryland at a salvage yard. The car did not have much else that we needed. We did net a new power antannae, t-tops, and a few other minor pieces at a local VA pick-a-part yard.
