This 1993 Ford Bronco was intended to be a buy, fix one thing (we figured a few things), and drive vehicle to play with off-road. Unfortunately it has lived up to its name so far. It has been a nightmare! We are currently finishing a 13 month partial restoration on this truck.
We purchased this at the end of 2015 from an individual. We knew the transmission was not working, but the engine ran ok and it did manage to pull itself onto the trailer, albeit very slowly. We brought it home and started checking it out. The engine, while it ran, was leaking and had extensive carbon build up and overall burnt appearance, among other problems. The transmission was worn out. AC was not working. The back window would not go up. There was a power steering leak and a rear wheel cylinder leak. Needless to say the previous owners throughout its lifespan abused this truck.
The pages below detail the problems, trials and tribulations, days spent in salvage yards finding parts, and the final state of the restoration and modifications. We did manage two short off-road adventures in the truck in that first summer, with mechanical failures on each adventure. So unlike our other vehicles, the story is not in chronological order below, as all sections were being worked on pretty much simultaneously.
Oh, and we are never buying another used white vehicle. See the Ranchero pages and know that we also have a white Cherokee. All three white vehicles have had the same plethera of bad problems!
